My Spiritual Journey in One Picture
Setting the stage for the final stage of my deconstruction story
Greetings everyone,
I had hoped to push out Stage Six of my deconstruction story but hit a serious time snag. Plus, I am a notoriously slow writer.
Rather than rush it, I thought I would share an illustration that perfectly sums up my spiritual journey. It’s also a warm-up for the themes I’ll be discussing in the final stage.
Here is what I wrote in a Substack note about this picture.
=====
This simple illustration captures my spiritual journey.
I signed up for the dude on the left thirty years ago.
Then for twenty years, I studied and taught everything on the right, but believed I was mostly teaching people about the dude on the left.
That’s when I retired from the world on the right.
Now I just want to focus on the dude on the left, without any of the stuff on the right.
======
To read the Jesus stories stripped of 2,000 years of theological baggage is one helluva spiritual trip, in a mind expanding way.
That’s where my journey has taken me, and that’s what I’m trying to process, think, and write about on my Substack.
=====
That’s all for now until I can get the next stage written.
Gustavo
Finally, I’d be curious to know if you agree with the message of the illustration? Why or why not?
P.S. Great image!
Dude, you must've need a U-Haul for all that spiritual baggage. Very heavy.
